Lift technicians

- Inspect industrial or commercial equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Prepare operational reports.
- Install electrical components, equipment, or systems.
- Review blueprints or specifications to determine work requirements.
- Inspect electrical or electronic systems for defects.
- Repair electrical equipment.
You usually learn on the job to become a lift technician and a qualification may be useful.
You need
- to pass the Electrical Appliance Serviceperson course and exam
- to have an Electrical Applicance Serviceperson practising licence
You may need
- to do an apprenticeship and get a New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering Theory and Practice (Trade) (Level 4) or Mechanical Engineering (Trade) (Level 4)
- a Trainee Limited Certificate from the Electrical Workers Registration Board
- a driver licence
If you’re in school
You usually need NCEA Level 2 to do the study or training for this job.
