Human welfare is the study of social intervention to improve people's social and economic wellbeing and understand how social policy is developed and managed. It gives you an understanding of people's social needs and the resources available to them, social influences on people's behaviour, and how to plan and deliver welfare programmes to meet people's needs.

Psychology is the study of how people's differences, experiences and environments affect their behaviour, and how to change that behaviour. It gives you an understanding of how humans develop, behave and interact and how to design research and analysis.

Law is the study of government legislation and regulations, and the customs and policies recognised by court judgments. It gives you an understanding of the principles and practices of commercial, criminal and constitutional law, and the powers of Government.

Library, information management and curation studies is the study of how to select, acquire, organise and store information collections, and how to locate, identify and assess heritage resources. It gives an understanding of the methods and technology for managing information and collections, how to help people discover and access them, and how to conserve and display culturally important objects.

Language and literature is the study of the structure and use of languages and literature. It gives you an understanding of the structure, sound and shape of language, to see how literature has developed, and how to study languages and literature in their social and cultural context.

Philosophy and religion is the study of how humans experience, perceive and interpret reality, of human spirituality and beliefs, and of the responsibilities and practices of ministering in a church. It gives you an understanding of theology, metaphysics, ethics and spirituality in relation to religious thought and practice, and how to assess and express clear, concise and logical philosophical and religious arguments.

Economics and econometrics is the study of how limited resources are produced, allocated, distributed, exchanged and used. It gives you an understanding of macroeconomics and microeconomics, how the local economy relates to overseas economies, and the effects of economic decisions on individual, business and government behaviour.
