- inspect electrical or electronic systems for defects
- test electrical equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning
- confer with coworkers to coordinate work activities
- align equipment or machinery
You need to do an apprenticeship to become a line mechanic.
You need
- to do an apprenticeship and get a New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply - Line Mechanic Distribution (Level 4) OR a New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply - Transmission Line Maintenance (Level 4)
- a New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply - Introductory (Level 2)
- a Trainee Limited Certificate from the Electrical Workers Registration Board
You may need
- a Heavy Vehicle Class driver licence
- to pass a medical assessment
