You need more than one qualification to become a dermatologist.
You need
- to complete the Health Sciences First Year programme at the University of Otago OR the first year of either the Bachelor of Health Sciences or Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland
- a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
- to complete a general medical training programme that usually takes 3-4 years
- to complete an exam and get the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in dermatology
- 4 years of advanced training in dermatology
- an Annual Practising Certificate
- to pass a police check
