- Conduct diagnostic tests to determine patient health.
- Assess physical conditions of patients to aid in diagnosis or treatment.
- Analyse test data or images to inform diagnosis or treatment.
- Calculate numerical data for medical activities.
- Develop medical treatment plans.
You need more than one qualification and experience to become a cardiologist.
You need
- to complete the Health Sciences First Year programme at the University of Otago OR the first year of either the Bachelor of Health Sciences or Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland
- a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
- to complete 6 years' training and become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
- an Annual Practising Certificate
- to pass a police check
