Aircraft refuellers
- usually work irregular and long hours and may work shifts, including nights and weekends
- usually work at airports and may travel locally
- may work in noisy and hazardous conditions
- need to be practical, safety conscious and responsible
Tasks
- refuel aircraft from fuel vehicles
- check fuel for contaminants
- follow health and safety rules
- follow aircraft refuelling schedules
- communicate with pilots and ground crews
- check and maintain fuel transport vehicles
You train on the job to become an aircraft refueller.
You need
- a class 4 or 5 driver licence
- 6 weeks on-the-job training
You may need
- a dangerous goods endorsement on your driver licence
If you’re in school
You usually don’t need specific NCEA levels for this job.
