• what a job with their company is like
• how to get into a job there
• opportunities like work experience, an apprenticeship or a job.

Their answers could help you decide which career you want.

You can use your kōrero when you meet employers at business events like career expos. Or when you first talk to employers about apprenticeships or work opportunities over the phone or in person.

If you know which employer you’re going to talk to, check their website to learn more about their company and type of work. This will help you prepare what to say.

Your kōrero should show your strengths, skills and work experience, as well as make the employer want to know more about you.

• Start by introducing yourself.
• Check the employer has time to talk.
• Tell the employer about your skills and experience and how you got them.
• Explain what you want to do and why.
• Say why you’re interested in the employer.
• Finish by asking for what you want from the employer.
