Real stories and practical insights build confidence, remove barriers and create meaningful job pathways.
OneinSix is an online hub designed to improve disability employment in New Zealand. It takes its name from the fact that 1 in 6 New Zealanders are disabled, yet many still face barriers to finding work.
While the site is built for employers, it also provides useful information for career practitioners supporting disabled people who are job hunting or entering work.
You can use the resources to help people get ready for job applications, understand their rights, and learn what good inclusive practice looks like from an employer’s perspective.
One of the features of the site is the collection of real stories. Opening doors through internships shows how paid work experience can build confidence, remove barriers and create meaningful job pathways. These stories offer practical insights into what works for disabled people in real workplaces.
Developed by the New Zealand Disability Employers’ Network with Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People, OneinSix is a valuable resource for anyone helping disabled people prepare for work.
