New Job Insights feature added to Tahatū,

People exploring career options on Tahatū Career Navigator can now access a new Job Insights feature on most career idea pages.
The new Job Insights feature on Tahatū is designed to help New Zealanders better understand the labour market context of different occupations while exploring career ideas and pathways.
Job Insights provides information about the size of an occupation and retrospective employment trends using data from the 2018 and 2023 New Zealand Censuses. It shows:
- the number of people recorded as working in an occupation in 2023
- whether employment in that occupation increased, decreased or remained relatively stable between 2018 and 2023.
Job Insights complements the existing job vacancy information available on Tahatū. Vacancy information is drawn from current job advertisements on SEEK and Trade Me Jobs, while Job Insights provides a retrospective view of employment trends.
Together, these features provide users with useful information about both current advertised vacancies and broader employment trends.
When making career decisions, it's important to consider a range of factors, including interests, strengths, qualifications, values and available opportunities. Job Insights is intended to be an additional source of information to support informed career exploration and planning.
