The Career development benchmarks are a suite of self-review tools designed to raise the quality of career development in New Zealand.

    The careers system provides careers education, information, advice and guidance to support people to make effective work and learning decisions.

    Learn how you can use the benchmarks and supporting resources to assess and improve your career development programmes and services.

    The Career development benchmarks and supporting resources help schools and tertiary organisations self-review their career development programmes and services.

    Each set of benchmarks include:

    • The benchmarks: setting out different levels of achievement for schools and tertiary organisations to measure their career development programmes and services against.
    • Roadmap: an overview of each dimension and its categories, to help map where you are and where you want to go.
    • Start point checklist: to build awareness of the self-review process, conduct a brief overview of your current situation and select a focus for a review.
    • Summary sheet: to help build awareness of the self-review process, provide evidence of your current situation and plan your next steps.
    • Self-review worksheet: to record your progress for each subcategory, provide evidence of your current situation and plan your next steps.
