Recyclers and dismantlers
- usually work regular business hours, but may work weekends
- usually work at recycling depots, garages, workshops, and car-wrecking and demolition yards

Tasks
- operate recycling equipment
- sort recyclable materials
- decontaminate equipment or sites to remove hazardous or toxic substances
- load materials into production equipment
- clean work areas
- clean materials to prepare them for production
- operate forklifts or other loaders
- record operational or production data
- sort materials or products for processing, storing, shipping, or grading
- disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair
You usually learn on the job to become a recycler and dismantler and experience may be useful.
You may need
- experience in similar work
- a driver licence with a forklift endorsement
- a New Zealand Certificate in Resource Recovery (Level 2)
- a New Zealand Certificate in Resource Recovery (Level 3)
- a New Zealand Certificate in Resource Recovery (Level 4)
