- Engrave designs, text, or other markings onto materials, workpieces, or products.
- Mix substances to create chemical solutions.
- Design templates or patterns.
- Review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
- Set equipment controls to meet cutting specifications.
- Trim excess material from workpieces.
You usually learn on the job to become an engraver and a qualification may be useful.
You may need
- to do an apprenticeship and get a New Zealand Certificate in Manufacturing Jewellery (Level 4)
- to be registered with the Jewellery Industry Registration Board of New Zealand
If you’re in school
You usually need NCEA Level 2 to do the study or training for this job.
