- Calculate dimensions of workpieces, products, or equipment.
- Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying information.
- Assemble garments or textile products.
- Position patterns on equipment, materials, or workpieces.
- Confer with customers or designers to determine order specifications.
- Inspected printed materials or other images to verify quality.
You usually need experience to become a patternmaker and a qualification may be useful.
You may need
- experience in similar work
- a New Zealand Diploma in Fashion (Level 5) OR a New Zealand Certificate in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Pattern Making) (Level 5)
If you’re in school
You usually need NCEA Level 3 to do the study or training for this job.
