Tahatū occupations API, Te API tūnga Tahatū

You can apply for an API to use occupations information on Tahatū Career Navigator in your organisation or on your website.
What is an API?He aha tēnei mea te API?,
An application programming interface (API) is a way for different software systems to exchange and share data.
The Tahatū occupations API is a way for external organisations to use content about jobs from the Explore career ideas section of Tahatū. Organisations can get the information in bulk or integrate it with their systems.
Who can access the API?Mā wai e whai urunga ki te API?,
The Tahatū occupations API is aimed at:
- external organisations with an interest in careers information
- government departments
- public users.
What data is available?He aha ngā raraunga e wātea ana?,
The Tahatū occupations API provides detailed data about the career ideas on Tahatū, including general descriptions, tasks and pay data. There are more than 800 jobs in the dataset.
Categories of informationNgā kāwai mōhiohio,
These categories of information are included in the API.
- General: Introductory information about the occupation, such as the titles and mapping codes for Tahatū, job zones, Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) and O*NET (Occupational Information Network).
- Description: A brief description of the career idea.
- Pay data: An indication of the pay you could get if you worked in the job. This shows the range of the lower, most common and upper values.
- Kaupapa: Concepts and background information about the job, and how people use te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori.
- Training duration: How many years of training it usually takes to get into the job.
- Life on the job: Information on what it’s like to work in each job, including hours, work environment and personal skills required.
- Tasks: Up to 10 tasks someone might do for each job.
- Entry requirements: Information on how you can get into the job, including what qualifications or experience you need or may need, and NCEA levels that may be needed if you’re in school.
- Registration: Information on whether you need to be registered to do each job. Where registration is needed, the regulatory body information is given.
- Job groups: A major and minor group association relating to the hierarchical grouping of occupations on Tahatū.
How to access the APIMe pēhea te uru ki te API,
You need to complete an access agreement and be approved as a user before you can access the API.
Send an email to tahatu@tec.govt.nz with ‘Request occupations API access’ in the subject line. Include:
- your full name
- your email address
- what organisation you represent
- how you would use the API.
If your request is approved, we’ll email you an access agreement to sign. The agreement outlines our terms and conditions of use.
Once we receive the signed agreement, we’ll give you access to the Tahatū occupations API.
